There were quite a few beverages to be had and some really great readings from some very unsuspecting people.
What's Karaoke Kinsmen you might ask, well it's a live Karaoke reading of Shakespeare’s play the The Two Noble Kinsmen inspired by Chaucer’s A Knight’s Tale.
Photographically it's always a challenge to shoot in the basement theater pub but always fun.

In honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare the Prague Shakespeare Company has taken on a huge task of doing the full cannon of Shakespeares works. Brigitte took on The Tempest!
Her creativity and imagination are grand and it was so much fun documenting the event for her and Prague Shakespeare Company.

A dark show with minimal lighting challenges any photographer. Dark lighting means slow shutter speeds, shallow depth of field and high ISO. Add to that that no motion can be seen in a photo, and actors who don't always hit their mark, doesn't leave for many options. These are the shows where the more dress rehearsals the better, but rarely is that an option.
As challenging as they are they can provide great images with lots of drama and mood.

In between all the work, it's good to take some time to clear ones head.
]]>Interesting time working with Greg getting some marketing shots for his show The Puppet King Richard The Second as part of the Shakespeare400.
Here are some of final images, can't wait to see the show.

One of the many perfomances being hosted at Divadlo Kolowrat and the Prague Shakespeare Company was A Live Radio Broadcast of Much Ado About Nothing. Such great and talented people to work with.
Promo piece, Karel Hermanek, HM Ambassador to the Czech Republic Jan Thompson OBE, Jessica Boone - Prague Shakespeare Company
HM Ambassador to the Czech Republic Jan Thompson, she is just fabulous!
]]>One of the many perfomances being hosted at Divadlo Kolowrat and the Prague Shakespeare Company was The Order of the Blue Chrysantemum - A New Mystery from the World of Karel Čapek’s Pocket Tales Adapted and Directed by John Poston.
It's always fun to shot and work with other artists and watch their process as their piece develops. Then, to see all the many elements come together for a finished piece, its exhilarating.

Our destination Kostel sv Jiri (St George Curch), an old church with a long history. Twice destroyed by fire and twice rebuilt, occupied by German troops during WWII and in more recent history the roof collapsed during a funeral killing several attendees. After this tragic event it was all but abandoned. A few years ago the town was looking into ways to fund a massive reconstruction and restorage project to save the building so they called upon and artist who had a great idea!
Jakub Hadrava made ghostly plaster sculptures and strategically filled the church with his brillant pieces of art creating a haunting atmosphere and a much needed tourist attraction.
What photographer wouldn't hop in their car to see this?!
There is no entry fee, donations are most welcome and go towards the reconstruction/restoration costs.
Some images from our trip...
There were only a few other folks there when we arrived, but we did get there just as they opened, by the time we left there were quite a few people there. As we were loading up our cars a group of photographers was arriving from Poland, just to shot this church. So the attraction is working, hopefully folks are generous to leave behind a nice donation for its repairs.
Makes you want to hop in your car and check it out doesn't it! :D
]]>It was a full house that came out to support woman artists from all over the world. The night showcased various live performances, art exhibitions, story telling, music and a whole lot of fun!
So for the entire month of April there are all kinds of different events, workshops, various gatherings and happenings For a schedule of events you can check out the website at: https://swanprague.wordpress.com/
A few of the images from the evenings events...
Recently I was lucky enough to get a special photography tour of the local airport. Something not easily accomplished nowadays with all the security that's required. The airport provided a wonderful opportunity to be on the tarmac and get some fun photos. The weather wasn't so great, it was cold and grey, but still awesome all the same.
Sometimes you get a shot and you just have to sit in the middle of the tarmac to check it out....
I love this one, have no idea why, I just do.
I was most fascinated in the repair hanger, seeing planes without their outter lining was very interesting!
Bare wings
Those propellers look like they can cause some serious damage!
I was quickly reminded just how massive a beast the airplane can be as it comes whizzing by you ready to take off, safe travels.....
And we can not forget about the bird and wildlife control unit, great job guys!

]]>We met just outside her flat, all bundled up and ready for adventure, the dog, Cody, was so excited I could not help but smile.....
We spent the next 2 hours strolling in the park, watching the snow fall, the children sledding the other many many dogs running around, their tongues hanging out, all with a smile on their faces.
On a park bench were the 2 cutest little snow people complete with their beer cap hats (hey it is Prague after all!) Both mom and I stopped and commented on how adorable they were...
Aren't they cute?!
I am not a runner, but these folks were serious and despite the snow they were out there, and they were not alone.
So beautiful....
So happy I found something better to do than yell at my computer....sometimes its best to step away for a bit :D

]]>Its dramatic, it's always something different and new, but it is most challenging and not as easy as one would think.
I was recently commissioned for a dance jazz production, complete with a small orchestra.

It was a great night.
Gathering at the train station...
Enjoying the ride
A short walk
Let the fun begin...

We had our meeting bright and early at 5:30am on the Charles Bridge. It was a great morning for shooting, and we had a good time. Of course there's that stop for an egg mcmuffin before hopping on the tram home.
Its always a bit challenging getting up so early in the morning, but once I get back home I go thru the images, and I find myself already anxious for the next one...
and lastly...

The director showed me a photo that inspired him, so our job was to create a feeling. Not always an easy task, but somehow we always seem to get where we need to, and we know right away when we do.
Here's the final image that will be used for the maketing of the production, Jared as Dracula
I can't wait to see the show!
One of the things on her list was to go up one of the towers for the spectacular views. While its true the views are spectacular, being up that high dangling over the edge to see below was well...a bit terrifying.
Definitely best to look ahead and not down!
It was a brutally hot day, so of course you just have to stop for some ice cold lemonade...

The first gathering...
Everyones excitement for a new project to begin can easily be felt in the room.
With all the smiles and laughter there are moments required for some more serious thought
As the night goes on, new visions for what the final show will look like are imagined, new friendships are begun and you slowly realize that its the beginning of a new family coming together.

We had lovely weather during the day, but it sure did get more than a bit chilly at night. We got the fire pit going and sat around having a few drinks and keeping warm.....and of course no better way to get dinner ready...
A great night with lots of laughs, lots of food and to little sleep!

This is the actual view from the balcony of the Lobkowicz Palace. They will be launching a 30 minute tour of the city where you don't have to walk anywhere. All set to a beautiful musical score by Robert Jíša.
The image will be used for a large map which will be provided to each quest. As their commercial photographer I provide the images and send them off to the Creative Art Director, Steve Josephson and his team. We took lots of images over the course of a few weeks. The weather was not being very cooperative to say the least, but Steve had a vision and we needed to make it a reality.
The final image is a composite piece of numerous images, helping to give it the depth that just makes it really stand out. A new sky had to be dropped in as the images were made very early into the spring season and we just could not catch a day that did not have a hazey sky. We plotted for weeks and watched the skies, and would go running to our shooting point at the hint of a possible clear blue sky...but time, and mother nature were not on our side.
This will be used as a background of the city with close up inserts of significant historical and architectural structures. So still lots of work for the graphic design department but wow they are doing a great job!

There is just something about natural lighting that I just love...

The first image is extra special to me as I was visiting my mom and we were out exploring...
A walk in the park, taken with a very shallow depth of field...

My friend joined me and we decided to stay and have a sandwich, some coffee and watch the action. After lunch we got to go inside and see the production, no camera aloud in there! Glad we stayed, they wrapped up early and we were able to get inside this great building.
Behind the scenes...

The event was being held by a local rotary club to raise funding and awareness of local charities in need of help. There was a large turn out on this slightly chilly early spring morning. The sun was popping out from behind the scattered clouds and often overcast sky, with a swift breeze blowing across the river. The teams arrived, all eagerly checking out their competition and planning strategies, while the Dragon Boats were patiently waiting tied along the docks. The 1st race begins its many legs, then the second, and before you knew it, it was time for the 3rd and final race.

This particular image was taken some time ago, I was still working as an assistant and given this assignment to shot. After finding an assistant who was fresh out of photography school we went to the factory to meet with the client and discuss their needs and goals for the project. This machine was huge, and stood in the middle of the factory floor surrounded by other machinery, providing us with a bit of a challenge. You'd never believe it took us 2 days to shoot this assignment. The first day was all set up. Setting up backdrops to surround the machine to remove all the distractions around it, we used every piece of studio equipment we could get our hands on. Day 2 was a full day of shooting every conceivable angle we could think of. Closeups and wide angles, shooting it while it was on and producing its finished product...It was really great fun! This is one of many shots the client used for a European marketing campaign.
